Our fish tank is ready to welcome a fish on Monday. A big thank you to the Abe family for providing a fish for our tank and to the Gorton family for the donation of pebbles, a water pump and decorations for the tank.

Montessori Lesson About Living and Non-Living

Hello P3 Parents!

It’s been a terrific week. We had our first Spanish class with Miss Lina and learned several new words. “Soy feliz!”.  Spanish is now on Thursdays at 10:30am.

We talked about land and water in cultural studies, as well as playground safety. We are learning new songs about the seven continents, the ocean, and taking care of the earth. We love to move our bodies to the music! ”

This was the first week of catered lunches. Panda Express, Chef on the Go and Jesse’s Pizza were big hits!

We are excited to announce that a fish will soon be joining us in the classroom. The tank is ready and waiting. We would welcome any rocks, algae or fish food to help take care of our fish.

Primary 3

Dear Families,

Thanks for attending our parent information night, which was held on Thursday, September 6th.  P3 and P4 teachers were pleased to greet a number of parents returning from last year, as well as those new to the school. We enjoyed having an opportunity to chat with you.

We were pleased to welcome five new students to our P3 classroom last week. They are settling in well and making new friends.

A big thank you to the Vanderford family for providing snack last week.

On Thursday, we introduced work goals to our Kindergarteners. They are eager to focus on their goals and enjoy choosing Reading, Writing, Math, Science and Heart activities. A Heart goal represents a favorite activity.

Specials started last week, with the exception of Spanish which begins this Tuesday at 9:45 – 10:15am. Art is held on Tuesdays from 10:30 – 11:00am; Kindergarteners have PE from 9:00 – 9:30am and Music from 12:30 – 1:00pm on Wednesdays. The entire class will attend music class from 10:30 -11:00am on that same day. Please ensure that your Kindergartener is wearing tennis shoes for his or her PE class on Wednesdays.

Thank you for all that you do for our classroom!

Our First Week

August 31st, 2012

Dear P3 Families,

We had a fabulous first week at school! The children are settling in nicely. We spent time this week establishing routines, having conversations about respect for the classroom environment and addressing safety. Additionally, we introduced the Peace Rose as a tool for conflict resolution.

A big thank you goes out to parents who volunteered to bring a snack for the week.  If you are interested in bringing a snack to school for all the children, the sign-up sheet is outside the P3 classroom door. A few of our children are sensitive to nuts, so we would appreciate it if you could bring in a nut-free snack.

Please remember that Parent Orientation Night is on September 6th at 6pm. This is a parent info night for parents only. We look forward to greeting you in the P3 classroom.

We hope that you have a wonderful weekend. See you next week.

Sincerely,

Miss Maryam
