Have a Fantastic Summer!

Dear P3 Families,

The school year has come to end, and we can’t believe haw fast it went! It just seemed like yesterday that we had little, wide-eyed, nervous children (and parents) walking through our doors! We would like to congratulate our Kindergarten graduates, and wish them all the best in elementary school.

The best part of this month was no doubt opening up the school to events. For the first time in two years, the Kindergarteners enjoyed Kindergarten Late Night. It was a blast eating pizza, playing games, and making crafts! We really missed parent volunteers, so it was such a treat to have P3 mom, Heatherann, come into our class and read her book! She is the author of “Growing Roses”, an educational, entertaining, and beautifully written book about roses in the garden. A flyer went out with instructions to purchase, however please let us know if you did not receive it.

We would like to thank all of you for making our “Someone Special to Me Tea” extremely special. A huge shout out and thank you to our admin staff that worked so hard to make this event a success!

The P3 staff is truly blessed to have spent time with your children this year. We are so lucky to have such supportive and caring families. We look forward to working with your children next year, and wish all the luck in the world to those that are moving on to other schools. Whether you’re staying in town, attending FMS summer camp, or off to wonderful destinations, we wish you a safe, relaxing, and fantastic summer break!

Sincerely,

Primary 3

Events Back On!

Dear P3 Parents,

We hope you all had a wonderful Spring Break! One pandemic and two school years later, we are beyond excited to have parents back on campus! We loved having you all for Parent-Child Night. We hope you enjoyed spending time with your children and watching them work on their favorite jobs in the classroom!

April has been a busy month. We have finished our studies on South America, the rainforest, and birds. The children loved learning about the layers of the rainforest, specifically what animals you would find in each one. They enjoyed hands on activities on the bird’s life cycle, and looked forward to daily afternoon indoor games that all the teachers learned during our in-service day!

The best day of the school year was, hands down, FIELD DAY! They had a blast with obstacle courses, sponge races, giant beach balls, water balloons, inflatable pools and floaties, and of course, popsicles! Thank you to Coach Bob for organizing everything, and shout out to the 8th graders as well for all their help! Here are some of the P3 friends living their best life!

Spring in P3

Dear P3 Families,

Before anything else we would like to thank you for an amazing Teacher Appreciation Week! We are so grateful and extremely appreciative of your genourosity and kindness! Spending time with your children is truly a blessing, and we are truly thankful for your support.

March has been an exciting month in the classroom learning about Asia and dinosaurs. They especially loved learning about Pandas and Komodo Dragons, and loved hearing about Ms. Jo’s childhood in the Philippines playing in the monsoon flood! We have also learned about several types of dinosaurs, grouping them by their diet (carnivores, herbivores, omnivores).

Chopsticks have also been incorporated into our Practical Life Area. Not only did the children learn how to use chopsticks, but the also had extra practice strengthening their pincer grip for writing!

Lots of events are coming up during these next 2 months, and we are so excited because we are finally going to see our parents on campus! Parent-Child Night for P3 will be on 4/26 and 4/27. Parents will have the opportunity to see our classroom, and the children will be able to show you what they are working on! Flyers with details and a sign up sheet will follow shortly.

Primary is also doing a food drive for our service project from April 4th to 8th. Details will be sent home by the end of the week. We are also excited to announce that Fun Friday will resume on April 1st! Parents and children will be able to hang out in the courtyard for about an hour with games and treats provided by the PTO. Please note that each child must be accompanied by a parent to participate.

Oceans and the Land Down Under

Dear P3 Families,

February has ended and we are sad to say goodbye to our ocean studies, which so far has been the favorite theme this year! We studied the zones of the ocean, and the children love how creepy and weird the fish look the deeper you go! They learned that their peculiar appearances help them adapt to life without light and food. The children are fascinated by angler fish, gulper eels, vampire squids, and all the bioluminescent creatures of the deep! Everybody also got the opportunity to paint our ocean mural.

The children were able to enjoy a small Valentines Day celebration with their Valentine exchange, and absolutely loved having strawberries and whipped cream for snack!

Australia has been such an interesting continent to study. In addition to their exotic animals, we learned a lot about the sheep ranches, famous landmarks such as the Sydney Opera House, and the Great Barrier Reef, which ties in perfectly with our ocean studies!

Our friends have also been working so hard on their writing, practicing finger spacing and letter formation with research work and picture stories. We are so happy for this new found interest!

The link for conference sign ups have been sent out. If you have not done so, please sign up as soon as possible. If the days do not work for you let your teachers know to re-schedule an alternative time.

May the Year of the Tiger bring you health, wealth, and happiness. We have kicked of the month learning about the ocean. The children are enjoying learning about the different living things in the sea, so the science area has been a favorite work area so far!

We are so proud of our Kindergarten friends, they have been so busy writing about fish and ocean life.

We have also begun our studies on people, places, and animals of Australia. We’ve enjoyed lessons on the different kinds of marsupials, and the parts of the kangaroo as well. The children have also been working on aboriginal symbols, and are learning about the famous landmarks as well! Uluru Rock, the biggest rock in the world, is their favorite and would love to visit! So book your tickets now for the summer, although it will be winter over there!
