Welcome!

blog pic1

Dear P3 Families,

We hope you all had an enjoyable summer, and would like to welcome you to the school year 2017/2018. To our previous students, welcome back! And to our new friends, we are thrilled to have you as part of our FMS family.

Our primary curriculum is extremely diverse, consisting of Language Arts, Math, Sensorial, Practical Life, and Sensorial. In addition to developing reading and math skills, your child will also learn about the seven continents and its people, flora, and fauna. Studies on the solar system, biomes, animal classifications, our community, and much more will also be conducted. On top of academics, a huge focus will be placed on grace and courtesy. We teach the children about peace and kindness, encourage the use of appropriate manners and classroom behavior, and above all, instill the excitement and love for learning and independence.

Each month, you will be receiving a calendar consisting of events and our curriculum for the month. We also have a classroom blog and an app called “Remind” for your smartphone on classroom updates (more information to follow). Parent/Teacher conferences are conducted twice a year, and we encourage communication through email, phone calls, or after school appointments. We believe that working together as a team is the key to your child’s success. Please do not hesitate to contact us for any questions or concerns at [email protected].

We look forward to seeing you during our Meet and Greet for more information:

August 10th, 5:00-7:00pm

Sincerely,

Ms. Joanne, Ms. Alisa, Ms. Pauline, and Ms. Lauren

Keep Calm and Summer On!

Dear P3 Families,

Can you believe the school year has come to an end?! In a blink of an eye, we are saying goodbye to our Kindergarteners, hello to new preschoolers, and getting ready for our Pre-Ks to be the new leaders and mentors of the classroom.

We would like to take this opportunity to say a big “THANK YOU” for giving us the privilege to work with your children this year. We’ve given infinite hugs, wiped many tears, dressed many wounds (even the microscopic ones), and had many laughs. We also wouldn’t have had such a successful year without all your help, from providing snack to chaperoning field trips. Most importantly, there’s nothing more fulfilling than watching them all grow in every way; emotionally, socially, and academically. To our friends that are returning in the fall, we can’t wait for another exciting year with you. To those moving on to elementary or other places, we wish you all the best and have full confidence that you will excel in everything that you do.

Have a safe and wonderful summer. See you soon!

Love,

P3 Team

The Last Stretch!

Dear P3 Families,

We can’t believe how fast this school year zipped by! We have been extremely busy this month learning about the animals, landmarks, and people of Africa. This tied in perfectly with our field trip to the Natural History Museum, as the children were able to see life sized lions, giraffes, and cheetahs. They loved all the interactive exhibits, especially the dinosaurs and fossils, and ocean life. Again, thank you so much to our parent chaperones, we are extremely grateful for all your help.

We are also studying bugs and insects, and the children are incredibly fascinated by the tunnels created by our pet ants! Mr. Tadpole is still healthy and happy, with two bumps under his belly. We are all waiting and watching him every single day as his legs should be coming out any minute now! We are crossing our fingers that it happens in the next two weeks!

Mother’s Day Tea was also such a wonderful celebration that our friends loved. It was such an enjoyable event, and we thank all the mommies, grandmas, and those that played mommy for a day.  It was such a memorable occasion for the children, and we hope you all had a great time as well! Field day was probably the highlight of the month. P3 and P4 children enjoyed an hour of getting soaked with water balloons, playing water games, and dunking themselves in plastic pools. Thanks Coach Bob and parent helpers!

Bird’s the Word!

Dear P3 Families,

Our field trip to the Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary was a blast! The children had a fantastic time holding baby chicks, talking to crazy cockatoos, and playing with the goats (even though two escaped from the pen, oops!). Not only were they able to see rescued South American birds, but they got to meet llamas, pigs, tortoises, and a peculiar looking donkey-mule as well. We would like to send a special “Thank you” to our parent chaperones who made this trip possible. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Another field trip is coming up on Tuesday, May 2nd, from 8:30am-11:00am. We will be going to the Natural History Museum.  Details and the chaperone sign-up sheet is posted outside our classroom. We appreciate all your help!

The children are very much enjoying our studies on South America and the animals of the rainforest. We have been learning about different types of birds, dissected flowers, and still eagerly waiting for our tadpole to grow legs! May is just around the corner and our themes for the month will be Africa, insects, and invertebrates.

Meet Leo!

Dear P3 Families,

We are so excited to have a new addition to our P3 family, Leo the tadpole! The children brilliantly came up with that name because he will eventually turn into a Leopard Frog. Did you know it’s a 6-12 week process for a tadpole to go through metamorphosis? We didn’t, so we’re hoping that he at least sprouts some legs before summer!

Thank you for taking the time to meet with us during conferences. It is always nice to share your child’s progress with you and your time is greatly appreciated. If you were not able to meet during allocated conference days, please email us at [email protected] or request an after school appointment in the communication log located at the door.

Please keep these in mind if you wish to volunteer for crafts or circle reading. Classroom volunteer sheets and a Practical Life supply list will be available by March 31st.
