It’s Pumpkin Time P3!

Happy October P3 Families!

We hope that everyone had a great time at the Fall Festival! Thank you to our amazing PTO for hosting such a wonderful family event!

Conferences are coming up! Please make sure to check the schedule at our front door for your correct time slot!

P3 would like to extend a warm welcome to our new Head Teacher, Miss Joanne! She comes to us with many years of Montessori experience and is excited to be working with the children of P3. Miss Kat is going to miss Foothills Montessori more than you know. Thank you for your amazing support and love these past 5 years! It has been a true honor teaching your children. Don’t worry, Miss Kat will continue to live in the Henderson area and will definitely visit the school and keep in touch!

We have been studying the parts of the pumpkin. Learning how pumpkins begin as a tiny seed, develop into a seedling, then a vine, and then a flower grows once it turns the sun’s energy into food. From this flower, a green pumpkin starts to form leaving a spot on the very bottom in a star shape where the flower once was (almost like a belly button). Once the pumpkin ripens, it turns orange and is ready to be picked!

The children have been working with pumpkin puree and yogurt parfaits in the practical life area! It is wonderful for them how to prepare their own food to eat! Look for seasonal recipes online that your children can participate in!

We have also started our mammal studies. Learning that mammals are vertebrates with several distinct characteristics. They usually have hair or fur on their bodies, give birth to live babies and are warm-blooded.
IMG_0179_zpsd4m0nwgeWe have discussed the five senses and what we use each of them for in our daily lives! Play a game at home to describe what sense or senses your child is using in different situations!
