It’s Been An Amazing Year!

It is almost the end, P3 families!

This has been an incredible year of learning and growing.  We have watched your children become more independent and excited students. All of the teachers in P3 want to thank you for an amazing school year, and for your love and support! We are very proud of the students and we will miss the children that are moving on, but wish them the best in their future adventures!

We have been studying bugs and insects this month and the children have been loving it! We took a close look at dragonflies, ants, spiders and butterflies. It is amazing to see how much information they can retain!

Mason’s mother came to our class and made ‘magic bugs’ with the students.  They each received a capsule to place into hot water.  Before their eyes, their capsule transformed into a different type of bug!  They were very excited to see which bug they got compared to what their friends did!

Kindergarten Late Night was a huge hit!  This year the activities were above and beyond! The Kindergarteners had such a great time!  They stayed excited throughout the evening and were very creative with the different crafts!  Thank you to our volunteers, we couldn’t have done it without you!

Field Day was a blast!  The games were so fun and they loved running in their bathing suits, getting wet with the water games, and eating delicious popsicles! Again, our volunteers made this all possible!  Thank you to Amy and Coach Bob for putting it all together!

We hope that you have a safe and enjoyable summer!  We will see all of our returning families in the fall!

May is Here!!!

Happy May, P3 Families!

We have been busy bees in P3! The children were able to make their own personal pizza with Chloe’s family!  They enjoyed choosing their topping and watching the cheese melt in the oven!  This is a great cooking project that children would be able to make at home as well!  Thank you Ghaneian Family!

Earth Day was a great time in our class.  The children made ‘dirt’ for a special treat! They got to crush, spoon, mix and eat! They put a lot of thought into how to care for our Earth including recycling, conserving water, saving electricity, and not wasting food. Again, something great to discuss at home!

Mother’s Day Tea was a wonderful time!  The children were excited all week to share their songs, their gorgeous gifts, and to share a yummy breakfast with their special guests. Thank you to all of our ladies for joining us for this very special day!

This month we have started our studies on insects and arachnids.  We have discussed the different parts of an insect and spoke about how insects have 3 body parts, 6 legs, and usually 2 or 4 wings.  We have also discussed how spiders are not insects, but arachnids.  In comparison, they have 2 body parts and 8 legs!  We have taken a look at various types of webs like the orical and funnel.

We have been learning about the life cycle of a butterfly, as well. They begin their life as a jewel like egg; then hatch into a larva where as they grow they shed their skin until full growth. When fully grown, they then go into the pupa stage of life before turning into an adult butterfly through metamorphosis.
