Busy Busy Bees

Hello P3 Families!

We have been busy bees in P3 learning new lessons and working together in our classroom.

We have been studying the apple and learning about how they grow throughout the year. It is interesting to watch the children absorb the information that is being read to them and then repeat it during question and answer time.  The information on the picture is the children’s words.

Safety studies has also been a theme we have been covering this month.  We have been learning about how to cross the street, staying safe in the car, being in a public place, what to do in case of a fire and how to be safe in the classroom.  We had a group discussion in circle to find out our students’ ideas on how to stay safe.

Being part of a community both in and out of our classroom is a very important lesson and it is something that should be discussed daily with our children.  We read a book in circle and then found out what the children thought they could do in their community to help make it a peaceful environment.  On September 11th, we talked about how we should be thankful for our firemen and policemen who keep us safe.  We read books about the daily lives of these community workers and then talked about why we are proud of our country.

We have also started our peace curriculum that will continue with new lessons throughout the school year.  We always begin with learning our Silence poem and our Peace Rose lesson.

Enzo’s mother came into our classroom for a special circle presentation about the life cycle of plants and different types of fruits and vegetables.  She also read the beautiful story “The Giving Tree”.  Thank you for coming to our classroom to share such a wonderful lesson!

P3 Back to School News

The first two weeks of school have been wonderful.  It has been a pleasure getting to know our new families and it has been great to see familiar faces.

We have spent our circle time reviewing classroom procedures such as walking on the line, rolling out a work mat, carrying a tray, pushing in chairs, lunch time manners, circle manners, and how to interrupt a teacher.  They are doing wonderfully, we have such a sweet group of children!

Now that we have all of our phase-in students on campus, we will begin our cultural studies during group time.  This month we are studying the following subjects:

Safety and Community Building

Nutrition and Food Groups

Living vs. Non-living

Land and Water

Apple Studies

Parts of the Seed
