Our Solar System studies are going well  this week.  We compared the differences in size for each planet by using fruits to represent the planets (example: Jupiter – pumpkin, Earth – red grape, Mars – raisin).

The children are enjoying the outdoor classroom with Ms. Val and continue to experience all the wonderful activities Ms. Val offers.

The Kindergarteners are working so hard in the afternoon and take great pride in completing their daily goals.  We started our new chapter book – The Mouse and the Motorcycle – by Beverly Cleary.

During circle, the children are taking turns leading us through our calendar and the days of the week.

This week we discussed Martin Luther King and how he wanted everyone to be kind to each other.  We talked about ways of helping one another in our classroom.

We are continuing to learn about our marvelous Solar System and all the different elements that make up each planet.

This month we will focus on the Solar System and learn about the different planets that make up our solar system.  The children will explore what each planet looks like and the contents that make up the different planets.  There are many different works out in our Science Area that allow the children to continue to learn all about our wonderful Solar System.

Our Practical Life Area has changed with lots of new works to help enhance the children’s  fine motor skills, level of concentration, and focus.

The children have been busy this week with finishing the January calendar and drawing their self-portraits.  Some of our Kindergarteners have taken on the “job” of leading the other children through their self-portrait work.  This helps to build on communication skills between the children and helps to make them responsible for the jobs within our classroom.
