Hello Parents and welcome to our blog!
This week’s quote:
“The most important period of life is not the age of university studies, but the first one, the period from birth to the age of six”. – Dr. Maria Montessori
Cultural studies-
This week we discussed the continent of North America and the three major countries: America, Canada, and Mexico. We learned some of the historical places in the United States and the deserts that surround us. We colored the Canadian flag and discussed the migration of butterflies to Mexico.
Desert studies-
We have been discussing the many desert animals that live among us. From the Desert Tortoise to the Big Horn Sheep, we learned of their habitats and their way of survival. We discussed nocturnal animals and how they protect themselves from predators. We learned of desert plants and the most common one; the cactus.
Election Day-
On Tuesday, the children had the opportunity to use their voice and VOTE. They voted on their favorite M&M color and cast their vote in a private booth.
The school –wide choice was Red!
Kindergarten Red Rock field trip-
On Thursday, November 15th the Kindergarteners will be going to Red Rock Canyon. We will be leaving school at 10:15am and returning by 2:30pm. Upon arrival, we will be having lunch and then hiking the Lost Creek Children’s Discovery Trail. In order for the students to have a fun and successful experience, we ask for the following: please wear tennis shoes and dress appropriately for the weather including an FMS school shirt, pack a disposable sack lunch with no Tupperware containers, thermoses, ice packs, or silverware.
