We had so much fun in our classroom this week!  We entered into a new month with a new calendar and new works on the shelves.  The children were excited to see and explore our October practical life center with lots of pumpkins, Indian corn, and various other materials.

During circle, we introduced and discussed vertebrates and invertebrates by using abstract and concrete materials.  The children continued exploring with the materials during work time.

Our visit to the book fair was an exciting time!  The children were thrilled to be able to visit the book fair and pick out books they liked to put on their wish list.  We hope you had the chance to visit too and purchase books of your liking.  We also would like to thank all the families for the book donations for our classroom. The children enjoyed sharing them with the class.

We are continuing to discuss and learn about the characteristics of mammals.

This coming week:

We are discussing the parts of a skeleton and the amazing human body.  We will be learning the importance of strong bones and healthy eating habits.

We will introduce Columbus Day to the children and talk about his journey to America through role playing.

We are putting together a fall display for our sensorial table.  We are encouraging the children to find items outside that are related to fall and bring them to school (ex: leaves, pine cones, acorns, etc.).
